Intimate area or bikini line? The difference
The terms are often confused but do not mean the same thing. For hair removal, it's worth taking a closer look. The intimate area covers what a bikini covers: the mons pubis and labia. The bikini line is outside the briefs, i.e., the transitions to the groin and thighs. We treat the perianal fold separately. Which zones make sense for you? We'll clarify that together. Shaving lasts two days. Waxing lasts four weeks, but with pain and ingrown hairs. Especially here, the skin reacts sensitively: redness, pimples, itching when hair regrows. Permanent hair removal targets a deeper level, directly at the hair root. What is destroyed there does not grow back. Unlike on the face, hair here grows denser and stronger, making the difference even more noticeable. No more daily shaving. No waxing appointment every four weeks. Just peace of mind.
How does laser hair removal work in the intimate area?
The laser sends focused light into the skin. Melanin in the hair absorbs this energy and transmits it as heat to the hair root. Approximately 70 degrees Celsius are generated in the follicle: enough to destroy the cells responsible for regrowth. The surrounding skin remains unharmed.
The question of sessions remains. Not every hair is active simultaneously; only 20 to 30 percent are in the growth phase. And only then can the laser reach the root. That's why we repeat the treatment every four to eight weeks. Dark hair on light skin responds best. White hair contains too little melanin, so even the best diode laser won't help.
How the treatment works
It starts with a consultation: determining skin type, checking hair color, defining zones. You shave the area yourself the day before; we take care of the rest. The laser treatment itself takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on whether only the bikini line or more is treated. The integrated cooling makes the laser pulses well tolerable; those who are very sensitive receive a numbing gel. Afterwards: avoid sun, no sauna, no sports on the same day. Nothing more. By the way, we only treat freshly tanned skin once the tan has faded.
Permanent hair removal in the intimate area: What does that mean exactly?
Permanent does not necessarily mean: zero hair. After six to eight sessions, 80 to 90 percent of hair is permanently gone for most skin types. Hairs that were dormant during the last appointment will be caught in their growth phase during the next session. Individual fine hairs may remain or reappear due to hormonal changes; a brief touch-up is then sufficient. Are you back from vacation with a tan? Then we wait two to three weeks with hair removal until the pigment has faded. However, we generally perform laser treatments all year round, even in summer.
Men also get laser hair removal in the intimate area

Destroyed follicles remain destroyed. Due to hormones (pregnancy, menopause), individual new hairs may emerge. A brief touch-up session is then sufficient; a complete restart is not necessary.
A brief pinch with each pulse, nothing more. The integrated cooling takes the edge off the heat. Those who are particularly sensitive receive a numbing gel beforehand.
Redness and small swellings around the follicles are normal and subside within hours. Rarely, the skin reacts with temporary pigment shifts, especially with fresh tan. This is precisely why we do not treat tanned skin.
Out of caution, we do not treat during pregnancy and breastfeeding. There are simply no studies. Afterwards, you can resume at any time, and the previous results will be maintained.
Yes. Thanks to the latest laser technology, we can perform the treatment all year round, even on lightly tanned skin. This is made possible by an adapted wavelength that cleanly distinguishes between pigment in the hair and pigment in the skin. Nevertheless, a personal consultation is required beforehand: how much tan is still acceptable and what settings we use depends on the skin type.
