Facelift / Deep Plane Facelift in Zurich – For a naturally rejuvenated appearance
The natural aging process of the skin cannot be stopped – especially on the face, fine lines, wrinkles, and a loss of elasticity appear over time. A facelift, particularly a Deep Plane Facelift, offers the opportunity to specifically treat these visible signs of skin aging and significantly rejuvenate the face – with natural, harmonious results.
On the face, a distinction is made between dynamic and age-related wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles arise from repeated tension in the facial muscles, such as frown lines or nasolabial folds. These can become permanently etched into the skin over time. Age-related wrinkles, on the other hand, are the result of a progressive breakdown of collagen and elastin fibers in the tissue – the skin loses elasticity and begins to sag.
A classic facelift can help here, but the modern Deep Plane Facelift offers a particularly effective and sustainable method to reposition the deeper structures of the face. It allows for a more comprehensive tightening without affecting natural facial expressions – for a fresh, youthful appearance that doesn't look surgically altered.
In our Zurich clinic, we are happy to advise you personally and individually on the topic of facelifts – especially regarding the advantages and possibilities of a Deep Plane Facelift.

The Deep Plane Facelift Procedure
Consultation
Before the treatment, a detailed consultation with your specialist will take place. Your wishes, questions, and the individual treatment plan will be discussed.
The Procedure
The Deep Plane Facelift is performed under general anesthesia and usually lasts between 3 and 4 hours.
Recovery
After the procedure, a short hospital stay follows. Most patients can resume their daily activities after about 2-3 weeks.
Long-term Care
The first results are visible after a few weeks, while the final result is fully visible after about 3-6 months.
What should I consider before a facelift?
Before the operation, the usual anesthesia guidelines apply: Please do not eat, drink, or smoke from the specified time. Smoking, in particular, should be significantly reduced or ideally stopped entirely before the procedure, as nicotine can significantly impair wound healing. On the day of the procedure, you should appear without makeup and – if an eyelid correction is planned – refrain from eyelash extensions. Blood-thinning medications should be discontinued in good time.
Before a facelift, two to three personal consultation appointments are usually scheduled. In these discussions, we clarify your wishes, the surgical details, and the exact procedure. A current blood test focusing on blood count and coagulation is also necessary to ensure the medical prerequisites for a safe procedure. A trusting doctor-patient relationship is essential for us – because only when you feel well taken care of will you truly be satisfied with the result.
Please inform us during the preliminary discussions about all medications you take regularly. Blood thinners usually need to be paused before the procedure, which should be coordinated with your general practitioner or specialist if necessary. Other medications, such as those for the thyroid or blood pressure, can in most cases continue to be taken – the anesthesiologist will advise you individually on this.
Especially blood-thinning medications such as ASS or certain anticoagulants should be discontinued in good time, as they increase the risk of post-operative bleeding. If you have a heart condition or other relevant pre-existing conditions, please discuss with your treating physician in advance whether and how the medication can be adjusted. This way, we collectively ensure maximum safety around your procedure.

Depending on the individual starting situation and desired result, a facelift can be ideally combined with other aesthetic-surgical procedures.
Often, a brow lift, eyelid surgery (upper and/or lower eyelids), or a neck lift are performed additionally to achieve a holistically rejuvenated appearance. By combining several procedures, not only individual regions but the entire face can be treated in harmony – for a particularly natural and balanced result. We will clarify which combination is suitable for you during a personal consultation.
Most patients are fully able to return to work after 2-3 weeks. However, slight swelling and bruising may still be visible for a few weeks.
After a facelift – especially a Deep Plane Facelift – you will understandably still show signs of the procedure in the first few days. However, the healing process is rapid: after about 2–3 weeks, swelling and hematomas have significantly subsided and are usually only minimally visible.
The result is convincing in the long term. On average, patients are estimated to look about 5 to 10 years younger. In addition to the visible rejuvenation effect, many also report a noticeable change in their self-esteem: they feel fresher, more self-confident, and present themselves with more satisfaction and inner radiance.
A Deep Plane Facelift offers particularly natural and sustainable results – without the risk of an over-tightened, artificial appearance.
The costs for a facelift or Deep Plane Facelift can vary depending on the individual findings and the desired scope of treatment. External influences such as intense sun exposure, extreme temperatures, injuries, chronic stress, or smoking can significantly accelerate skin aging. These factors negatively affect the stability and longevity of collagen and elastin fibers – precisely those structures responsible for the skin's firmness and elasticity are responsible.
Natural skin aging is ultimately the result of an disturbed balance between the breakdown and regeneration of these fibers. If this balance is disrupted by external stresses, the skin loses firmness more quickly – leading to initial wrinkles and a tired facial expression.
